With the goal of balancing the tenant’s dual personalities of newspaper mogul and holding company, Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates designed a two towered structure bridged by a podium and terraces to house more than 1,700 employees. The site rests upon 25 acres and houses editorial, administrative and production facilities for USA Today, USA Weekend, Baseball Weekly and Gannett News Service, in addition to other amenities.
Laminated glass fins on the exterior walls were created with an innovative liquid-pour manufacturing process and designed to withstand ultraviolet light, moisture, and extreme temperature variations.
The facade includes 4,500 curtainwall units comprised of over 1,500 unique glass infill sizes and distinctive vertical glass elements cover the enclosure of the faceted towers.
