Behind the Scenes at 53W53 on the Science Channel’s BUILDING GIANTS

The Science Channel’s BUILDING GIANTS next episode will air Thursday, January 18th at 9 pm (EST) spotlighting New York City’s 53W53 also known as the MoMA Tower. This elegant supertall skyscraper will ultimately soar above the southern end of Central Park in midtown Manhattan and be one of the city’s tallest residential towers. Standing at 77-stories tall, featuring 145 condominium residences 53W53 will fall nothing short of luxurious amenities. Enclos is working alongside Lendlease to install nearly 400,000 square feet of curtainwall upon the unique diagrid structure.

The Skinny on Supertall

Ambition pushes us higher. The never-ending quest for generational advancement is no more evident than in the buildings indicative of an era. In recent years the number of supertall buildings has increased exponentially, and nowhere in the United States is this more evident than in New York City. International Conference on the Architectural and Structural Application of Glass

On Thursday, June 16th, Enclos senior design engineer Austin Bensend, PE, SE, and technical project manager Brian Rogers, Associate AIA, will speak at Challenging Glass in Ghent, Belgium. The bi-annual conference gathers international designers, engineers, researchers and industry partners to discuss architectural and structural glass.  Rogers will present Laser Tracking Metrology: An Integrated Fabrication Process for Geometrically Complex Facade Systems, and Bensend will present Maximizing the Twist of Cold Formed Glazing in the Curved and Bent Glass track.
