Met 2

Enclos designed and engineered the impact resistant facades on display at both Met 2 and neighboring 1450 Brickell in downtown Miami. The projects represent two of the largest developments in Miami, with Met 2 holding the title of largest mixed-use project in the city’s history. Enclos also provided fabrication, assembly and delivery services.

Met 2 is part of a four-building complex that defines Miami’s central business district rejuvenation effort. The project consists of a 48-story office tower and 20-story Marriott Marquis Hotel. The office tower includes 800,000 square feet of Class A office space, while the Miami Met Marquis includes uncompromised urban luxury throughout its 360 rooms. At the center of the four-building complex sits Met Square, built to rival New York City’s Times Square with retail and restaurant amenities.

Raising the bar in terms of impact resistant facades and curtainwall technology, Enclos’ hurricane facade products withstood small missile testing with loads of 277.5 pounds per square foot applied. Remarkably the office tower includes 420,000 square feet of glass cladding composed from 7,000 curtainwall units that enhance building occupant safety in the event of severe weather storms.

The project was seeking LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council at the time of completion.
