New York Landmarks Redefine Architecture

New York is known as the home of some of architecture’s most iconic landmarks. Two of these buildings are part of Enclos’ portfolio and have helped set the tone of modern design and reimagined architecture as we know it.

432 Park Avenue

Rafael Vinoly’s 432 Park Avenue is the tallest residential building in the Western Hemisphere. The tower rises 1396´ above midtown Manhattan providing unprecedented views of New York. Enclos developed configurations for multiple wall systems and performed finite element analysis to evaluate thermal efficiency and condensation resistance. Further, Enclos’ field team installed a total 1,832 window wall units in 18 months. The Oculus

The World Trade Center Transportation Hub also known as The Oculus is Spanish-born architect Santiago Calatrava’s masterpiece. The hub is the only facility on the World Trade Center open to the public and serves as a train station, plaza, and shopping mall. The structure features an operable glass skylight that opens on the anniversary of the September 11th attacks. Since it’s opening the structure has attracted tourists and visitors from all over the world. Enclos provided design-build services for the transportation hub’s skylight system and vertical glass panels. The skylight spans 355´ long and is comprised of 224 pieces of glass in 40 panels. In addition, 772 pieces of blast-resistant glass were set in between the structure with the largest spanning 13´ by 5´.
