LAX/Metro Transit Center Joins List of World’s Most Beautiful Stations

Tuesday, September 29, 2026

LAX/Metro Transit Center has been recognized by Prix Versailles as one of the world’s most beautiful stations, joining six international transportation hubs named in the organization’s 2026 list of laureates. Announced yesterday, the award celebrates facilities that the Prix Versailles describes as “cultural expressions that are simultaneously beautiful, fashionable and sustainable, that reinforce passenger mobility whilst revitalizing local neighborhoods and support modernization.”

The 500,000 square foot transit center aims to reinvent transportation in the historically car-centric Los Angeles with seamless transfers between the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) network. It’s program includes light rail connections, a bus plaza, bike hub, vehicle drop-off, customer service center, commercial space, and direct connection to the LAX Automated People Mover (scheduled to open in 2027).

At two stories, the transit center was designed with the local climate in mind, relying on skylights, canopies and natural ventilation. Enclos was tasked with engineering, manufacturing and installation of the canopy’s distinctive soffit system, which includes 78,000 square feet of stainless-steel mesh panels suspended by galvanized support rods and struts.

Founded in 2015, the Prix Versailles honors exceptional architecture and design projects that beautify and improve the living environment. In December, three stations from the 2026 laureates list will receive a World Title designation during a ceremony at UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
