Chase Center is the winner of Autodesk’s AEC Excellence Award in the Construction – Large Project category. The state of the art sports and entertainment mixed-use development sits on an 11-acre site in Mission Bay and features an 18,000-seat arena, two office buildings, a glass-enclosed gatehouse, retail, and public spaces. In the award brief, the project team is commended for its integration of innovative technology, most notably the concurrent use of a 3D and 4D approach to building information modeling during the preconstruction phase. The master model, coordinated by the Mortenson | Clark Joint Venture, served as the nexus for all trade partners, including the Advanced Technology Studio of Enclos and the development of the signature facade.
In early 2017, Enclos was awarded the design-assist and installation of the arena. The Enclos team fabricated and installed 160,000 square feet of rain-screen mega-panels and secondary structure for the complex geometry. Furthermore, Enclos’ scope included nearly 200,000 square feet of curtainwall on the Chase Center Towers, which consists of two 11-story office buildings, Mission Bay 3 + 4, that will house offices for Uber’s new corporate headquarters. The speed and efficiency of manufacturing and construction would not have been possible without the project team’s innovative approach to coordination in building information modeling (BIM).
Congratulations to all participants of the Chase Center team for the AEC Excellence Award. Job well done!
