Position Overview:
- Provides engineering services associated with the design, fabrication, and installation of curtainwall systems.
- Develops structural engineering and curtainwall knowledge.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs basic structural engineering analysis and design calculations under the supervision and direction of a P.E.
- Drafts solutions using hand sketches and computer aided design (CAD).
- Analyzes systems and components using hand calculations and computer aided engineering (CAE) software.
- Designs facades that follow building code, material design code, project specification, and vendor literature.
- Works collaboratively in diverse teams solving abstract and complex problems.
- Demonstrates strong oral and written communication to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervising P.E.
- Assigned tasks that have clear and specific objectives.
Education/Licensure/Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) from an ABET accredited four-year College or University in Engineering, Civil or Structural Degree preferred. No work experience is required.
- I.T. Certificate is required. Committed to obtaining P.E. Registration after required level of experience is preferred.
- 1 year engineering internship is preferred.
Qualifications:
- Ability to support P.E. in writing technical reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts as geometry, algebra, trigonometry, exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
- Ability to apply engineering concepts in two and three dimensions such as, statics, mechanics of materials, and stress and strain.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to use CAD, Word Processing, spreadsheet, Email and Internet software.
- Familiarity with STAAD Pro v8, MathCAD, Autodesk AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit or similar design and analysis software preferred.
- Understands failure modes and limit states.
- Strong spatial and visual aptitude preferred.
