Position Overview:
Originates and develops ideas and prepares complete designs from architectural drawings and specifications to design curtainwall systems for buildings by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides innovative proposal drawings and product information to sales teams from architectural drawings and specifications to design curtainwall systems for buildings by performing the following duties.
- Provides design review and input upon request to sales team for projects being partnered through vendors.
- Draws detail sketches and prescribes fabricating techniques.
- Participates in activities related to developing and maintaining standard systems.
- Reads publications, attends showings, and consults with engineering, marketing, production, and sales representatives to establish design concepts.
- Evaluates design ideas based on factors such as appealing appearance, design-function relationships, serviceability, materials and methods engineering, application, budget, price, production costs, methods of production, market characteristics, and client specifications.
- Integrates findings, concepts, and sketches into design ideas.
- Prepares or coordinates preparation of working drawings from sketches and design specifications.
Requirements:
- Education/experience in the design, engineering, fabrication, and/or installation of curtainwall systems; combined 0-4 years.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in Rhino, AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Suite, VRay and should have knowledge of Excel, Word, Power Point, Email and Internet.
- Be up to date with technology through participation, continuing education and conferences.
