POSITION OVERVIEW:
Plan, direct, and coordinate quality assurance/quality control programs and systems for the Phoenix Manufacturing Shop to ensure continuous production of advanced, complex curtainwall systems (consistent with established standards, customer specifications, and production goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct and coordinate quality assurance/quality control programs throughout the production cycle to ensure a high level of internal and external quality control.
- Supervise workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure high productivity and high technical integrity.
- Instruct staff in quality control and analytical procedures.
- Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and to establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products.
- Create, document and implement inspection criteria and procedures in order to maintain quality control standards and on-going quality control objectives.
- Collect and analyze production samples to evaluate quality. Interpret test results, compare them to established specifications and control limits, and make recommendations on appropriateness of data for release.
- Investigate and correct inspection problems and complaints as they relate to product quality.
- Analyze quality control test results and provide feedback and interpretation to production management or staff.
- Coordinate quality objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
- Enforce requirements and stop production if serious product defects are present.
- Perform visual inspections of finished products.
- Monitor performance of quality control systems to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
- Communicate quality control information by providing technical and statistical expertise to all relevant organizational departments, outside vendors, or contractors
- Identify critical points in the manufacturing process and specify sampling procedures to be used at these points.
- Participate in out-of-specification and failure investigations and recommend corrective actions.
- Produce reports regarding nonconformance of products or processes, daily production quality, root cause analyses, or quality trends.
- Design, develop and implement quality control training programs.
- Adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations and perform work practices that are safe.
- Adhere to company policies and rules.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Associates degree in Quality Management, Quality Assurance, or related field or equivalent of 5 years of practical work experience in production or manufacturing, esp. in the field of construction or curtainwall.
- Knowledge of principles and process for providing supervision and leadership with considerable experience supervising and managing employees in a manufacturing setting.
- Ability to manage and motivate and hold people accountable to measurable performance expectations.
- Use of quality engineering methods and inspection
- Ability to maintain a tactful, orderly working relationship with others.
- Ability to read and write English with excellent communication skills, follow verbal instructions, and use complex mathematics.
- Proficient computer skills, to include familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, IBM Notes, etc.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds. The employee has constant requirement of specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to focus. They must frequently wear eye protection (Industry standard safety equipment is provided by the company and specific notice is posted in areas where safety equipment is required).
